Building a Stone Age Shelter
We loved building a Stone Age shelter this morning.
It wasn't very big but we managed to fit four children inside it.
I think there was a lot of learning taking place this morning in year 4.
Ask your child what they learned about Stone Age life.
Stone Age Find
Year 4 loved looking at the artefacts that were dug up on our school field at the weekend.
We will be learning a lot more now about Stone Age life.
Watch this space!
Rainwater Challenge
We have all enjoyed designing and making a rainwater harvester to try and catch as much rain as possible.
This was after we learned in our RE lesson about the importance of water, and how and why some people in parts of Africa harvest their rainwater.
Year 4 really enjoyed this challenge.…
Harvest
We all took part in the Harvest Service at Trinity Methodist Church.
Well done Year 4.
You all spoke very well at the Harvest Service today.
There are more photos on the News section on the web page.
Silver Birch Log Pile
A big thankyou to Mr Buckett for making our new sign!
We have added leaves and some twigs around the logs now, so hopefully lots of animals will now make their home there.
We will let you know next year which animals we find living in our log pile.
Rock Heroes
Congratulations Harvey and Isaac.
You are Rock Heroes.
These boys are the only two children to have completed all four session challenges that have been set for the class.Well done.
Come on Year 4!
You can all be Rock Heroes.
Outdoor Artists
I was extremely proud of Year 4 this week.
We all went outside to draw our own magical gardens. The children sat quietly on the logs in the sunshine, looking at the trees and plants around them, entirely focused on their artwork.
Some of their drawings are amazing.
I think Year 4 have…
Year Four - Outdoor learning afternoon
On Thursday the 29th September we had the pleasure of inviting our parents into school to help with our homework challenge.
As it is outdoor week we did one of the 50 things to do before you're 11 and 3/4s.
In year 4 we hunted for bugs and we found:
slugs, ladybirds, spiders, beetles,…
Fairies at Gillibrand!
Year 4 heard that there had been fairy doors discovered in the school grounds. So we went to investigate!
The children found four fairy doors and three of them were on the Silver Birch trees. This made Year 4 believe that they were actually our fairies!
A lot of the children heard them…
Times Tables Champions
The challenge last week was to complete 10 games in the "Garage" section on Times Table Rock Stars.
Only 6 children in Year 4 managed to complete this challenge. Well done to
Fran, Isaac, Harvey, Scarlett, Matty, Harvey and Finley.
I know more children can take part in the…
Living Things and Their Habitats
Our Science topic this term in Silver Birch class is Living Things and their Habitats.
On Thursday the children became Science investigators and explored our playground for living things.
These are some of the things the children looked for:
A blade of grass measuring 2cm long or…
Amazing Art Work.
Year 4 are most definitely amazing artists!
Look at the art work they all produced in the style of Monet.
They are now all going on display in school.
