Today Year 4 had the pleasure of Bishop McClure visiting us in class to talk about his role in church and why Jesus is important. We learnt a lot about the Mormon Temple, that is part of our community, and the significance of Angel Moroni, who sits on the steeple we see across Chorley. Before Bishop McClure came into class the children all thought of questions that they wanted to find out about.
Here are some of the questions that they wanted to find out about:
- What is a Bishop? What do you do?
- Why do you worship God?
- Why is the church so big?
- Why is it white?
- What is your favourite part of the job? Do you like being a Bishop?
- What is on the top of the church?
- What does Mormon mean?
Afterwards we thought about the things that we like about ourselves and others, reflecting on our school value of kindness.
