WOW!  What an amazing Book Week we have had this year!

We met author's, 'Secret Story Tellers', made character potatoes, introduced 'Reading Champions', taken part in competitions and been awarded reading certificates...phew!!!

The children have had a very busy and very inspiring week and below are all of our photographs.

We began the week with our first 'Reading Champion' (Jemimah) and although she was nervous as she was going first, she did a fantastic job!  Next, Tommy's mum was our 'Secret Story Teller'.  On Wednesday we met Gemma Lees, a local aspiring children's author who showed us how her writing journey began and she shared her wonderful books about the adventutres of 'Ethan Elephant'.  She also set a character design competition and she will be returning to school to present a certificate and signed book to the winning character design.

Next, William was our second 'Reading Champion' and Wilson, Ted, Emily and India achieved their 'Reaching the Sun' reading certificates.  Maisie was our next 'Reading Champion' and she was followed by a second 'Secret Story Teller' - India's mum.

On Friday we welcomed another local children's author to our classroom.  Her name was Christine Tuson and Amelia's mum is the illustrator for Christine's books.  Christine introduced us the 'Clive the Chimp' and shared stories about his adventures.  Clive spent the remainder of the day with us and had some new adventures in our class.

The winner's of the Character Potato competition were announced in assembly and the winning entry in Year 1 was India!  She won a lovely book by Enid Blyton.  Photographs of the children's Character Potatoes can by viewed on the 'News' page of the website.

We finished the week with Ted being our 'Reading Champion' and Jemimah's mum being of 'Secret Story Teller'.

I would like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who has helped make Book Week 2018 such an amazing, engaging and inspiring week for the children, without your continued support, none of this would be possible - THANK YOU!
