This afternoon we have been continuing to learn about the Maya.

First, Mrs Clayton, who is a frequent visitor to Mexico, spoke to the class about her visit to a Maya temple at Coba and the 120 steps she climbed up to reach the top. Children learnt about the ‘stelae’, a rock with pictures and hieroglyphs on which have provided historians with information about how the Maya people lived. Thankyou Mrs Clayton for giving up your time to talk to us about the Maya!

Then, we used the iPads to go on a virtual tour of the Maya civilizations, giving us the opportunity to look in detail at the different temples and buildings that the Maya used thousands of years ago.
