This week, Year 3 have been learning a range of cooking skills. On Wednesday we learned how to make a traditional stew. The stew was based on a 100 year old recipe, to give the children an idea what people would eat in Chorley over 100 years ago. The children had to hygienically prepare the ingredients and then boil the stew for a couple of hours. It tasted delicious!
Yesterday we made Chorley Cakes. First we used scales to measure out the ingredients in grams. Then we used a range of utensils such as rolling pins and pastry cutters to prepare the ingredients. Then the children used the traditional method of ‘pinch, turn, flatten’ to create the cake shape. We filled the cakes with raisins and currents. They were delicious!
