On Wednesday Year 1 had to say goodbye to their chickens as they made their way to their new home.
It has been a great journey over the last few weeks. We started our journey by incubating the eggs for 21 days. We had to keep the eggs at a constant temperature of 38 degrees and keep them moist, spraying them with water. Once the chicks hatched we kept them warm under a heat lamp and made sure they had clean water, chick crumb to eat and saw dust to play with!
We really enjoyed looking after them and handling them. Some of us even made houses for them. We watched them grow and measured how high they were getting.
They have now gone to live with other hens and soon will be laying their own eggs!
We would like to thank Ms Bryson for looking after our eggs and the chicks during the holidays and weekends!
