Year 4 enjoyed an exciting and educational train journey this week as part of a special workshop delivered in partnership with Northern Rail and their community lead Dave Savage.

The children began their adventure at Chorley Station, travelling first to Preston, before continuing on to Accrington. After exploring and completing their activities, they returned via the same route – gaining real-life experience of planning journeys, reading timetables and travelling safely on public transport.

Throughout the day, Dave Savage delivered an engaging and informative workshop, teaching the children about railway safety, responsible travel and how to stay safe around trains and stations as well as introducing us to the Eco train station at Accrington. The session was interactive, memorable and full of important life skills. Even our Wilf took part in some of the sessions talking about his working life on the rail.

We are incredibly proud of Year 4. Their behaviour was exemplary from start to finish. They represented our school brilliantly – showing maturity, respect for the public, excellent listening skills and fantastic enthusiasm throughout the day.

A huge thank you to Northern Rail and Dave Savage for providing such a valuable and enjoyable experience. It was a journey to remember!
