Our Reception class has been busy combining creativity, culture, and healthy eating in a fun Design and Technology project! Inspired by their recent learning about Chinese New Year and the Year of the Horse, the children decided to make their very own healthy spring rolls.

The project began with a taste-testing session, where the children sampled a variety of fresh vegetables to decide which fillings they wanted to include. Once they had chosen their favourite ingredients, they worked hard to write clear instructions for making the spring rolls themselves.

The excitement continued during a special parent afternoon, when families joined the children in the classroom to roll, wrap, and create their delicious spring rolls together. The event was full of laughter, teamwork, and lots of tasting, and it was wonderful to see the children proudly sharing their creations with their parents.

This project not only helped our Reception pupils learn about healthy eating and cooking skills, but also allowed them to explore a different culture and celebrate the spirit of Chinese New Year in a hands-on, enjoyable way.

Well done to everyone involved for a fantastic afternoon of learning, creativity, and family fun!
