Our Reception class has been busy with an exciting hands-on project—growing their very own cress! Over the past few weeks, the children have carefully looked after their cress plants, watering them daily and observing their growth with great enthusiasm. They even kept a special diary, recording the changes they noticed and learning all about what plants need to grow healthy and strong.

Once their cress had grown lush and green, it was time to put it to good use! The children had a fantastic time using their fine motor skills to prepare delicious egg and cress sandwiches. They carefully buttered the bread, peeled the eggshells, and snipped the fresh cress to sprinkle on top. With great concentration, they also practiced their cutting skills to make perfect sandwich shapes.

This fun and educational activity not only helped the children learn about plant life cycles but also encouraged healthy eating and independence in food preparation. The Reception team is so proud of their hard work and teamwork throughout the project!
