This week, parents of Reception children attended an engaging phonics workshop aimed at helping them support their child's early reading journey. The session, led by Mrs. Wilson and Mr. Thomas, provided parents with valuable insights into how phonics is taught in school and offered practical strategies to use at home.
The workshop covered key aspects of phonics, such as blending sounds, decoding words, and the importance of regular reading practice. Parents even joined in with practical tools such as using robot arms to break down words and the character actions for digraphs. By attending the workshop, parents are now equipped with the tools to reinforce these essential reading skills at home, creating a strong partnership between school and family. This collaboration will help build children's confidence in reading, laying the foundation for a lifelong love of books.
We’re grateful to all the parents who joined us, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact this will have on the children’s early literacy development.
