This week KS2 have been learning all about the Victorian Era and about life in a Victorian school room with DELVE into History. The children learned how children sat at their desks, all about punishment and how the children would have learned lots of facts through rote learning. We looked at money and used slate and scratchers to do arithmetic. We compared the Victorian times with now, using pictures and artefacts. Some of the children definitely did not like being a child in the Victorian times!
We also tried to write using ink, which the children found very difficult, when trying to use the dip pens. We learnt that discipline and respect were very important within the Victorian Era and if any child showed disrespect they were punished.
