Today KS1 and Reception went on their end of year trip to Skipton Castle as part of their topic work on castles. Prior to our trip, the children had researched the castle and established that Skipton Castle is a medieval castle in Skipton, North Yorkshire, England. It was built in 1090 by Robert de Romille, a Norman baron, and has been preserved for over 900 years.

We arrived at 10.30 to be placed in our groups and then the adventure began.

All pupils enjoyed exploring the grounds and the castle and asked so many questions, generated from their research.

As the pupils started their journey, they were tasked with the job of finding 650 mason marks. I don’t think they found them all but I think Marty had a very good go!

Thank you to all the guides who took the pupils around the castle and the adult volunteers who helped us. The pupils and the staff learned and awful lot from the visit!
