As part of our geography, Year 5 have been finding out about the causes and consequences of earthquakes. To help them understand this, the children were given a challenge:
They had to build a stable structure on a base of jelly. They used spaghetti and marshmallows for their construction. The structure had to be at least 2 storeys high.
It was a very messy afternoon, but lots of learning took place.
Some of the children soon realised that it would be better to build a low structure as this would be more stable.
