Year 5 have ended the term on a high!

On Thursday Dr Martin worked with the children on a disaster relief challenge.  The children had to work in teams and design a bridge to cross a fast flowing river in order to deliver supplies to stranded people.  The children had to take on different roles within the group.  This helped to develop a range of skills including: problem solving, communication, listening and teamwork.  The afternoon was fantastic and all the children joined in and were keen to build the best bridge.

On Friday we had a DT day.  The children had to design, build and evaluate a product.  Their task was to create an air raid shelter.  They had to make sure their shelter was fit for purpose and could withstand a 200g weight being dropped on it.  The children worked really well together and produced some super designs.  They then evaluated their work and made suggestions about how to improve it.

Well done Year 5!
